Our total income in 2022 was £258.0k. The bulk of this £208.2k was monies raised towards the buildings cost of providing an Assembly Hall at the Hope and Faith Christian Community School in Zambia which we have supported for a number of years in other ways through regular giving’s. This continues to be the case today. Income to support other causes are outlined below. Our remaining income is generally through donations from members and friends of the church through weekly giving’s mostly now through standing order. These collections were used to cover the cost of ministry and maintenance of our buildings. We also generate income from hall lettings.
Our support for outside causes came in many guises but the two largest elements of which were geared towards providing monetary gifts to The Hope & Faith Community School in Zambia and The Oxford Friends of Hope and Faith. The Epiphany Project which raises money by regular monthly giving from members and friends to cover the donations made for the ongoing work and maintenance of the school; A separate committee has been established to support students and teachers who wish to undertake further education by funding their college fees as well as accommodation costs where appropriate and examination fees.
Each month during our communion service an additional collection is made to our Benevolent Fund. Each quarter this fund is distributed to local charities that were nominated at the end of the previous year. Also during these communion services we accept donations of food for the Witney Food Bank. We have special collections for the United Reformed Church Commitment for Life world development programme at Easter and in the autumn. Participating churches are encouraged to take action, pray and give for people across the world but especially in the four partner countries of Bangladesh, Central America, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory, and Zimbabwe. The United Reformed Church works in partnership with Christian Aid and The World Development Movement raising over half a million pounds a year from contributing churches. At our annual Christmas Eve Carols by Candlelight service the collection goes towards homeless people in Oxford.
